A residential septic system is an underground wastewater treatment system commonly used in homes that are not connected to municipal sewer systems. It treats and disposes of household wastewater in an environmentally safe manner. A septic system has two components: a septic tank and a leachfield or drainfield. Traditionally, precast concrete septic tanks used stone and pipe drainfield systems that were prone to failure over time and costly to repair. Today, plastic is preferred for residential septic system solutions. The Infiltrator IM-Series septic tank is constructed from injection molded polypropylene, making it strong and lightweight. Not only is it easier to install—it can be delivered to your home without the need for heavy equipment—it is more effective at infiltrating effluent than old-fashioned concrete tanks. Infiltrator manufactures two types of drainfield systems: Infiltrator Chambers and EZflow.
