ENVIRO-AIRE Package Wastewater Treatment Plant Installed at Fredericksburg, TX, Destination Brewery

An authentic Old World German-style destination bewery in Fredericksburg, TX, opened to the public in the fall of 2019. The 100-acre site features a fine dining restaurant, biergarten, and private event space.

As the brewery expanded from a production-only facility to a destination brewery they needed a wastewater treatment system capable of meeting the expected growing demands of the property.

 A 24,000 GPD ENVIRO-AIRE package wastewater treatment plant was designed to handle the domestic and high strength waste from the facility. The waste stream from the beer production process was not included in the treatment design. The ENVIRO-AIRE package wastewater treatment plant was installed at-grade in coated steel tanks. The system includes a total of eight (8) vessels with flow equalization, solids holding, aeration, clarification and dosing tanks making up the treatment train. The effluent is dispersed to a large drip dispersal field.

The control panel for the system consisted of a 72” x 72” floor stand enclosure that housed the controls for all 11 motors with power for an additional panel that controlled the clarifier drive motor. The main aeration blowers are controlled via Dissolved Oxygen probe and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD). The VFDs control the speed of the blower motors depending on the dissolved oxygen level in the aeration basin. There are controls for a set of duplex timed dose flow eq pumps and a set of demand dose duplex RAS/WAS pumps. Both of these duplex pump systems are controlled by submersible transducer with Opti-Float backup.

The remainder of motors are a set of duplex flow eq blowers, a simplex solids handling blower and a set of duplex dosing pumps. Infiltrator provided three magnetic flow meters on this project – one for influent, one for the drip flow to the field and one on the field return line. In addition to those controls Infiltrator provided a complete cellular monitoring and control system in which any alarm or data point can be monitored remotely in addition to starting and stopping motors remotely if they choose to connect those options.

The ENVIRO-AIRE package plant has successfully met the needs of the brewery, all while allowing a high level of operator control and monitoring. The brewery has plans for expansion in the future and the system will allow for increased flows to support the brewery as it continues to grow.
